This left hand high speed turn, is named after the world's only two and four wheel World Champion, John Surtees. John Surtees is still active in the world of motorsport. His son and rising star, Henry, was tragically killed in a Formula Two car at Brands Hatch in 2009.

Commentator of twenty-one years, and motorsport expert,
David Addison, spoke with us at Brands Hatch.

An aerial view of Surtees. The cars approach from the bottom of the picture. They turn left for the Grand Prix Circuit and right, through McLaren, for the Indy Circuit. The cars in this picture are lining up for the Grand Prix Circuit.

The distinctive 'S' shape of Surtees and McLaren. (Surtees is the first turn - the left hander)

Just leaving the apex at Surtees.

Six cars through Surtees. Notice how some cars use almost all the kerbing.
